Anyone who has strained honey through a cloth knows the awkward part is not the straining, it is holding the thing. A filter draped over a bucket slips, sags into the honey, or needs someone standing there with both hands on it. That is fine for a frame or two. It is not fine when you have an extractor to empty.

This stand clamps to the rim of any round container from 25cm to 70cm across, which covers a small pail, a 20 litre bucket, a settling tank and a 200 litre drum. It holds the filter firmly at the edges so you can pour and leave it to drain. It ships with a filter in the box, either a nylon fabric filter or the double layer jumbo stainless steel filter, and the stand suits both so you can swap later.

One Stand From the Bucket to the Tank

Most beekeepers end up with a mix of containers over a season. The adjustable clamp grips whatever you are pouring into, and the stainless steel ring stays level over the opening. When harvest is over it folds down and goes on a shelf until next time.

Fabric Filter or Double Layer Stainless

The fabric option is a fine nylon cloth, 75cm by 100cm, that drapes over the ring and catches the smallest bits of wax and pollen. It gives the cleanest honey for jarring and is cheap to replace, but it clogs faster once cappings wax builds up, so rinse it between batches.

The double layer jumbo filter is a 31cm stainless steel sieve with a coarse screen over a fine one. Wax and large debris stop on top, finer particles on the lower layer, and honey flows through faster than it does through cloth. It washes in warm water and lasts for years, and suits processing more than a few buckets at a time.

What It Will Not Do

The stand holds a filter. It does not make cold or thick honey move any faster. Honey strains best straight out of the extractor while still warm, and if it has cooled or started to crystallise, warm it with a heating blanket before you pour. The stand is built for round rims, so if you are straining into a square tub, check the clamp will sit on the edge first.
